Dusan Kerkez after the loss to CSKA Sofia: I take responsibility and stand behind my players

“When you lose 0-4, things are not good. We knew it was going to be a difficult game, especially with the problems we have. Static situations are part of a game and it was obvious that we cracked there. We started well, we had some dangerous situations, but we conceded a goal at a time when we were doing well. An experienced team took advantage of our mistakes and scored goals. The score 4-0 in their favor is not fair. We had chances to score. There were other situations that I don’t want to comment on. It’s not OK when you lose like this, but it’s good that the international break is coming and we will have time to work,” Dušan Kerkez began his comment.

“I can be satisfied with how the youngsters played. You saw a Papazov, if we had Conte or Diabate, they could have prevented these situations. The young guys have to learn, they will get better and they will be the future of Bulgarian football. Whatever to say, it would be redundant. We tried to adapt, to experiment in search of our best formation today. We had our chances in the second half as well. We had to change something, we were put in such a situation,” added Kerkez.

“We have two more games with them in the Cup. You could say it was an experiment, but we saw last game how we coped with a different formation. It’s part of the game. I take responsibility and stand behind my players. If someone has to be blamed, it’s okay to be me. You never learn from your victories, you always do from your mistakes. Victories bring good cheer, not so much lessons. Things have never come easy in my life. I’m a person who fights, I do it with my team. If the Club wants me to stay, I want it even more. I will give my all until the very end.”

“The president, the directors and I know what we have to do to bring the team closer to the best and that is our goal. I know that in football nobody gives you time, but we need it because the people with me are very ambitious and we don’t want to be at that level. We want Botev much better than that,” concluded our coach.
