Botev Plovdiv qualified for the quarterfinals of the Bulgarian Cup. In the 1/8 final match, the “canaries” won 2:0 over Spartak in Varna.
The “Yellow-Blacks” came out with shirts in support of the legendary Lyuboslav Penev. Plovdiv’s players were led by Todor Kiselichkov in the absence of the suspended Dimitar Dimitrov-Hero.
In the first minutes, Botev’s players made two accurate shots, and the hosts responded with a shot by Pahama.
In the 30th minute, Armstrong Oko-Flex overcame two defenders and scored with a solid shot under the crossbar for 1:0.
9 minutes later, the “Canaries” scored a second goal. A long-range shot by Baloyannis was saved by the goalkeeper, but in stoppage time Franklin Mascotte doubled the lead – 2:0.
The second half started with pressure from the “falcons”, who were close to scoring several times, but Daniel Naumov and the defense in front of him managed it.
In the 70th minute, Dimitar Mitkov found himself in an excellent position, but the ensuing shot was saved by the Blues’ goalkeeper.
The draw for the quarter-finals is this Thursday, and the matches will be played in February 2026.
