Botev Plovdiv suffered a 0:1 defeat to Botev Vratsa in a match from the 6th round of the First League. The game was played at Hristo Botev Stadium in Vratsa.
The Canaries had a poor first half, during which they conceded the only goal of the match. After the break, the Yellow-and-Blacks created several opportunities but were unable to find an equalizer.
From the opening minutes, the hosts looked the more dangerous side. Botev Plovdiv responded with a dangerous effort from Chidera Okoh that went just wide of the post.
In the 22nd minute, Borukov’s shot went wide of the goal. Seconds later, Marvin Senger gave the ball away to the hosts. Martin Smolenski played it to Preslav Borukov, and the striker made no mistake from a clear position to put Botev Vratsa 1:0 ahead.
The Canaries could have equalized almost immediately, but Samuel Kalu fired wide from a good position. Right at the end of the first half, Naumov produced an excellent save to deny Martin Petkov’s powerful strike.
The second half started with a big chance for the visitors. Carlos Meotti was played through one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but his shot was saved by the keeper, while Franklin Mascotte was unable to get a shot away from the rebound.
A minute later, another effort from Meotti was saved by the goalkeeper. In the 58th minute, Ivan Goranov prevented a dangerous attack, sliding in to intercept a superb pass from Asen Chandarov intended for Franklin Mascotte.
In the 80th minute, Daniel Genov’s shot was saved by Daniel Naumov. Four minutes later, Samuel Kalu’s skilful effort flew just over the crossbar. Botev Plovdiv were unable to create another clear opportunity in the closing stages and suffered their second consecutive defeat.
