Botev Plovdiv lost 1:2 to Arda Kardzhali in a match from the 34th round of the First League. The match was played at the “Hristo Botev” stadium in Plovdiv.
The “Yellow-Blacks” took to the field wearing shirts in support of Todor Nedelev, who underwent surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.
The first half did not offer any clear scoring opportunities, with only Simeon Petrov and Nikola Iliev making it difficult for Gospodinov until the guests reached a serious danger.
The second half was much more dynamic and full of situations. In the 47th minute, Samuel Kalu’s shot was saved by the goalkeeper.
In the 61st minute, after a carom and a series of shots, the guests managed to take the lead with a tight shot by Jalal Huseinov and an unsuccessful clearance attempt by Simeon Petrov.
In the 68th minute, the Canaries equalized with Carlos Meotti’s debut goal. The offensive player received a pass around the penalty spot and equalized with a precise shot.
Just two minutes later, the visitors took the lead again, after a cross from a foul and a shot from the air by Jalal Huseynov. In the 77th minute, Botev was given the right to take a penalty, but Franklin Mascotte shot wide of the post from the penalty spot.
At the end of the match, the “yellow-blacks” had two excellent scoring opportunities. In the 87th minute, a tight shot by Meoti was cleared by Gospodinov, and three minutes later, a shot by Kalu was parried by the goalkeeper.
