Botev Plovdiv played a magnificent match and won 5:0 over Cherno more. The match from the 35th round of the First League was played in heavy rain at the “Hristo Botev” stadium in Plovdiv.
The victory is historic and is the most impressive of the “Canaries” over Varna at the First League level. Above all was Carlos Meotti, who impressed the Plovdiv audience with three assists and a series of brilliant plays.
Lachezar Baltanov’s boys started the match actively and in the 9th minute Carlos Meotti crossed excellently to Chimezi Williams, who overtook a defender and intercepted the ball, but Kristian Tomov intervened in the best way and saved a sure goal.
In the 19th minute, the goalkeeper was again the last barrier to the goal, after a powerful shot from close range by Nikola Iliev. Seconds later, Carlos Meotti overcame a defender, shot and after a ricochet the ball went inches from the post.
The massive pressure gave the necessary result and after the corner kick, Botev took the lead. Nikola Iliev crossed to the back post, where Simeon Petrov rose above everyone and headed in his debut goal with the yellow-black team – 1:0.
In the 25th minute, another shot by Meotti was blocked by Kris Tomov, and in the 30th minute, a dangerous shot by Nikola Iliev was blocked by a defender. Deep into the added time of the first half, the guests received a very controversial foul, but nothing dangerous came of it.
After the break, Plovdiv’s dominance was total. In the 49th minute, a strong shot by Baloyannis went wide of the target.
Seconds later, Carlos Meotti masterfully crossed to Franklin Mascotte, who with a flying dive sent the ball into the net for the second time – 2:0.
In the 55th minute, a phenomenal combination between Meotti and Kwateng brought the defender into a shooting position and the Frenchman, with a precise execution, checked Tomov for the third time – 3:0.
The show of the flying “canaries” continued and literally a minute later Nikola Iliev received an amazing pass from Carlos Meotti and kicked the ball over the goalkeeper for 4:0.
In the 69th minute, Carlos Meotti fired a long-range shot that was saved by Kris Tomov. Shortly after, the winger was replaced by Samuil Tsonov and earned the applause of the audience.
In the 77th minute, another beautiful attack led to Botev’s fifth goal. Samuil Tsonov rushed down the right flank, made a double pass with Ifena Dorgu and with a wonderful shot into the far corner fixed the final score.
In the 82nd minute, the two sharpshooters from the Botev Plovdiv academy, Samuil Tsonov and Nikola Iliev, combined at speed, the attack ended with a shot by Iliev, but it flew inches over the crossbar.
