Botev Plovdiv suffered their first defeat in the summer training camp. The “Yellow-Blacks” lost 1:2 to Etar Veliko Tarnovo at the “Nikola Shterev – Starika” Football Complex.
Stanislav Genchev fielded a very experimental squad, and several players who are on trial with Plovdiv also took part in the match.
The visitors opened the scoring in the 4th minute after Tsvetomir Tsanev headed a cross into the far post. Seconds later, Lucas Araujo’s shot was cleared off the goal line by a defender.
In the 19th minute, Samuil Tsonov found himself in a good position, but his shot was saved by Nikola Videnov. In the 31st minute, a guest player came face to face with Slavkov, and the goalkeeper kept his cool and saved. At the very end of the first half, a shot by Nikola Iliev went wide of the goal.
The second half started with several chances for the visitors. In the 47th minute Slavkov saved a shot from close range, and in the 62nd minute the substitute Nikolay Pranzhev also made a save.
In the 65th minute, the guests reached a second goal, scored by Petar Petrov. Shortly before the end, the passer Alex John reduced the score.
Tonight at 7:00 PM, Botev will play a friendly match against Spartak Varna at the Hristo Botev Stadium.
