The team of Boev (Plovdiv) lost 0-4 to CSKA Sofia in a match from the XXV round of the First League, played at the Vasil Levski National Stadium in the capital. Among the starting lineup for the “canaries”, absent were Konstantinos Balogiannis and Jonas Tamm, who missed the game due to accumulated yellow cards in previous matcges. Antoine Conte, Martin Sekulič and Dylan Mertens were also absentdue to various injuries.
CSKA’s goals were scored by Jonathan Lindset in the 25th minute, Fernando Karanga (32nd and 42nd) and Mathias Phaeton in the 65th minute.
In the 6th minute, Emmanuel Ume advanced and shot from 15 meters out, with the ball hitting Ivan Turitsov’s right wrist. The players in yellow-black rightfully asked for a penalty, but the main referee of the match Ivaylo Stoyanov did not award one, and VAR arbiter Valentin Zhelezov also did not signal anything wrong.
Strong minutes followed for Dušan Kerkez’s squad , however the first goal of the match fell in the 26th minute and it was for CSKA Sofia.
Thubaut Vion shot from distance, Igonen saved but the ball still was not cleared from the penalty box, in this moment the onrushing Lindset took advantage of Igonen’s mistake and scored for 1-0. In the 33rd minute, CSKA doubled their lead after a goal by Karanga, scoring with a header from a corner kick. In the 35th minute, Emmanuel Ume scored a goal that was disallowed by the official referee Ivaylo Stoyanov, calling an extremely controversial foul on Ume against Šakić, which led to a stormy reaction from our bench.
In the 42nd minute again, Fernando Karanga scored a goal. In a static situation in favour of CSKA executed by Thibaut Vion, the ball found Karanga and he once again headed past Matvey Igonen for 3-0.
The second half began with a good opportunity for Botev to score a goal, Ume had another great chance to reduce the deficit, but his shot went wide of Gustavo Busato’s goal.
In the 65th minute, CSKA scored their fourth goal after a defensive mistake – Phaeton took advantage and scored into Matvey Igonen’s goal.
In the 72nd minute, Ume had another strong shot, but it went out. A quarter of an hour before the end, both teams had one shot each. First, Busato saved a shot by Ivelin Popov, and then Igonen caught a shot by Skarsem.
In the 87th minute, with another elegant performance, Ivelin Popov set up Mohamed Brahimi – he remained one-on-one with Gustavo Burauš, but the CSKA goalkeeper denied him.
