Botev Plovdiv recorded its third consecutive victory in friendly matches. The “Yellow-Blacks” prevailed 2:0 over Euro participant FC Balkani.
The match was played in front of over 1,000 spectators at the Hristo Botev Stadium. Georgi Milanov recorded the first minutes with the “Canaries” team.
The match started off great for Plovdiv. In the 7th minute, Botev’s players took the ball away after a press in the opponent’s half, the ball reached Carlos Meotti and he scored with a shot into the far corner for 1:0.
3 minutes later came the first intervention of Daniel Naumov, who saved a shot from mid-range. In the 17th minute, a diagonal shot by Samuel Kalu flew past the post, and at the end of the first half, Carlos Algarra did the same.
The second half started with an early goal for the “Canaries”, which came after a beautiful attack. In the 50th minute, Carlos Meotti passed behind the “white” defense to Pedro Igor, and the winger technically crossed the goalkeeper for 2:0.
The guests had a chance to get back into the match after being awarded a penalty in the 55th minute, but Daniel Naumov stole the applause of the audience by saving the penalty kick.
5 minutes later the audience was on its feet again to applaud the first minutes of Georgi Milanov’s “Canaries” team. In the 64th minute Edson Silva headed a cross from a corner kick, but his shot was inaccurate.
Seconds later, Samuil Tsonov was close to scoring, but his shot hit the side post. In the closing minutes, the two teams exchanged one dangerous shot, which went close to both goals.
Botev Plovdiv’s next match is on Wednesday at 6:30 PM against Chernomorets Burgas at the “Nikola Shterev – Starika” Football Complex.
