Botev Plovdiv won 5:0 over Spartak Varna in a match from the 28th round of the First League. The match was played in front of about 3,500 spectators at the Hristo Botev Stadium.
The “Yellow-Blacks” had a number of problems with injured and sick players, but this did not affect their performance. Lachezar Baltanov’s boys played a brilliant match and won the ovations of the audience.
Botev started very actively, pushing the opponent into their own penalty area from the first minute. After several missed opportunities, it came to the 12th minute, when Nedelev crossed from a foul and Enock Kwateng scored from the move for 1:0.
In the 18th minute, Samuel Kalu demonstrated his high class and with a wonderful shot from mid-range into the far corner, he left no chance for Kovalev – 2:0.
In the 44th minute, the visitors’ goalkeeper was sent off with a straight red card for handball outside the penalty area. From the ensuing foul, Todor Nedelev blew the stands away with a masterful performance for 3:0.
After the break, the dominance of Plovdiv was complete, with only the strong performances of the young goalkeeper Valentin Dimitrov saving the guests from an even more impressive result.
In the 53rd minute, Zacaria Tindano made a magnificent pass and passed to Samuel Kalu, who scored his second goal of the match with a tight shot for 4:0. In the 73rd minute, the Canaries’ top scorer Franklin Mascotte made it 5:0 with a beautiful header.
