Botev Plovdiv recorded its first victory since the start of the season in the First League. In a match from the 3rd round, the “canaries” prevailed only 1:0 over Cherno More at the “Hristo Botev” Stadium in Plovdiv.
In the third consecutive match, Stanislav Genchev’s boys created a huge number of chances, but missed them lightly, which this time did not prove fatal and the three points were added to the Plovdiv team’s assets.
The guests started the match better, having created a number of clear-cut chances in the opening minutes, but were unable to convert them. In the 10th minute, a beautiful backheel shot by Chidera Okoh was saved by Tomov.
In the 23rd minute, the “Canaries” received a penalty for a foul on Asen Chandarov, as signaled by the VAR referees. Behind the ball stood Chandarov, who coolly checked Tomov for 1:0.
The second half was much more interesting than the first, with chances in front of both goals. In the 50th minute, Meoti’s shot was saved by Tomov, and 2 minutes later the guests hit the post through Celso Sidney.
Seconds later, Naumov blocked a shot from Mohamed Ashi.
In the 54th minute, a shot by Meoti did not trouble Tomov, who caught it. 3 minutes later, the talented footballer found himself in a great position, but this time he was unable to overcome the Varna guard.
In the 58th minute, Kalu tried his luck again, and the visitors’ goalkeeper saved again. In the 68th minute, an excellent attack brought Meoti into a phenomenal position, but this time Tomov was not overcome.
It came down to the 72nd minute, when Botev missed their clearest chance. Franklin Mascotte was brought face to face with Kristian Tomov, but to the disappointment of nearly 4,000 in the stands, he shot over the goal.
In the 75th minute, Botev’s series of unreal misses continued. A blunder by Ertan Tombak gave the ball to Franklin Mascotte, and the striker, to the bewilderment of the audience, again failed to find the goal line.
In the 80th minute, a long-range shot by Alex Kolev made it difficult for Naumov, but the goalkeeper caught the ball on the second attempt. 2 minutes later, Asen Chandarov found himself face to face with the goalkeeper, but he also failed to calm the match with a second goal.
In the final minutes, the “Canaries” were worried twice after long shots by the Cherno more, but Botev deservedly took the three points.
