Renowned Bitcoin journalist Joe Nakamoto, known for his adventures documenting Bitcoin adoption worldwide, has set his sights on Plovdiv. Following his documentaries from Cuba, Peru, Ireland, El Salvador, the UK, and beyond, Nakamoto’s latest stop brings him to the heart of Bulgaria’s football scene. His mission? To capture the pioneering move of Botev Plovdiv FC embracing Bitcoin and the communications protocol Nostr.
Nakamoto’s journey began with the excitement of a home game against Pirin Blagoevgrad FC, where the “Canaries” triumphed 3:1. It was amidst this electric atmosphere that Nakamoto witnessed firsthand the fusion of football passion and Bitcoin innovation.
In his quest to uncover the impact of Bitcoin on Botev Plovdiv FC and its devoted fanbase, Nakamoto turned to the voices of the community. One such voice is Georgi Nikolov, a dedicated supporter whose enthusiasm for both Botev and Bitcoin knows no bounds. Nikolov was enthusiastic when he said, “A month ago, I was thrilled to learn that Botev Plovdiv accepts Bitcoin in its shops and that the club is actively promoting the Bitcoin mission.” Nikolov’s participation in Plovdiv Bitcoin Meetups at Club Fargo highlights the grassroots support for the club’s innovative initiative.
In a conversation with Teodor Bochev, a respected figure within the Botev Plovdiv FC community and a former member of the board of the ” Botev Association,” Nakamoto delved deeper. Reflecting on Botev’s venture into Bitcoin, Bochev commented, “This is great because I love Bitcoin, but I don’t know if the management knows what they are doing. But the fact that you are here means that they are doing something good for the club.”
