Another impressive achievement in the career of Ivelin Popov. In yesterday’s match with Slavia, our captain recorded his 150th match in the Bulgarian championship. He started the match as a starter and stayed on the pitch for the full 90 minutes.
Of these 150 matches, 95 of Popov’s matches were with the Litex team, 31 with Levski’s shirt and already 24 of them with the yellow-black of Botev (Plovdiv). Within this number of meetings, the playmaker has 38 goals and 34 assists.
Popov’s achievement is even more impressive considering that 12 years of his career were spent abroad, where he played for Gaziantepspor, Kuban (Krasnodar) and Spartak (Moscow). In his business card with honors stand out two championship titles of Bulgaria, two Cups of Bulgaria, one Super Cup of the country, and three consecutive honors for Footballer of the Year in Bulgaria.
This is another individual achievement for the captain of Botev (Plovdiv). Just a few months ago, Popov received the prize for the best football player of the year for the city of Plovdiv, and the supporters of the “yellow and black” also identified him as their #1 for the past year 2023.
