Botev (Plovdiv) striker Georgi Nikolov underwent a successful operation in Barcelona, Spain. The surgical intervention is led by the world-famous Dr. Ramon Cugat, who has treated Pep Guardiola, Andres Iniesta, Fernando Torres and a number of others with similar injuries. The Bulgarian youth international will remain in the Catalan capital for some time to monitor his condition carefully.
We remind you that Georgi Nikolov tore his cruciate ligaments and meniscus during the goalless draw between Botev (Plovdiv) and CSKA 1948 on April 7. In that match, the attacker was forced off the field already in the first half. Nikolov is expected to be out for the rest of the season, with his team-mates showing their support for their team-mate by taking to the pitch ahead of the home game against Botev (Vratsa) wearing special t-shirts with the number 93 on the chest.
So far during the campaign, the Bulgarian striker has an impressive 16 goals in all tournaments at club and national level. With Botev’s jersey, Nikolov scored 4 times in 8 matches.
Botev once again wishes for a speedy recovery of our number 93 and we look forward to seeing him again at “Hristo Botev” Stadium.
