Botev’s doubles team lost the city derby

The double of Botev (Plovdiv) lost with 1:2 the city derby with Lokomotiv. The match of the 9th intermediate round of the Southeast Third League was played at the Sports Complex “Nikola Shterev – Starika”.

The match was accompanied by more than 10 yellow and 4 red cards, which the main referee Vladimir Valkov showed – 3 of them for the Canaries and one for a Lokomotiv player.

The match started promisingly for the “yellow-blacks”. In the 9th minute, a shot from the center by Kostadin Tatarov shocked the Black and Whites’ goalkeeper Daniel Ambardzumian, overthrew him and so Botev took the lead after a unique goal.

There followed several good opportunities for Botev, which were missed. In the 34th minute, a Lokomotiv player received a second yellow card and was sent off for roughing in the middle of the pitch. In the 39th minute Bozhidar Kostadinov equalized for the Black and Whites after a technical foul shot in the upper right corner by Martin Panev.

In the second half, both teams rushed in search of the goal. Several clean chances in front of both goals were missed by both teams. In the 67th minute, Botev’s left-back Dimitar Papazov received a second yellow card. 10 minutes later, another player in “yellow-black” received a second yellow card – Ivaylo Videv was sent off in the 76th minute.

7 minutes before the end of the full 90, a third red card was shown to a Botev player – fielder Atanas Yordanov was sent off after receiving a second yellow card from the head referee.

Deep into added time, Lokomotiv’s players made a complete turnaround – a scissor kick hit Martin Panev’s crossbar, followed by a touch from which Vian Stankov took advantage and scored with his head for the final score.

In the next round the Botevists are visiting the team of Dimitrovgrad. The meeting is on September 30 (Saturday) 17:00. at the stadium in Dimitrovgrad.
