Botev Plovdiv recorded an impressive 2:1 victory over Beroe in a match from the 5th round of the First League. Botev were down by a man for over 40 minutes, after a direct red card for Emil Martinov at the beginning of the second half.
The “Battle for Trakia” was played at the “Beroe” stadium in Stara Zagora, and the “canaries” were the hosts in front of a full sector of “yellow-black” fans. The Bultras gave the team the necessary momentum with unwavering support throughout the game.
The two teams had an interesting clash to watch, with numerous chances in front of both goals. Daniel Naumov made a number of important saves, and Todor Nedelev inspired the “Canaries” to a complete turnaround with two assists.
There were no goals in the first half, but Nene opened the scoring in the first seconds after the break. In the 53rd minute, Emil Martinov was sent off with a straight red card, and the decision came after the intervention of the VAR system.
What happened on the pitch did not break the “canaries” and they fought for success until the final whistle. In the 81st minute, Todor Nedelev crossed beautifully from a corner, Dimitar Mitkov rose above everyone and headed the ball, and after contact with the post, the ball flew into the net for 1:1.
In the first minute of added time, the magician with the number 8 crossed from a corner kick, Enock Kwateng deflected it at the near post and the ball ricocheted off a defender, then flew into the goal for the complete turnaround.
After the end of the match, the team and the fans celebrated the famous success, and thus Botev recorded match number 11 without a loss against Beroe.
